This dessert is prepared with a delicious pudding filling between carefully prepared baklava phyllo dough. It is then baked in the oven and sweetened with a light syrup. Ingredients Required for Custard Baklava Recipe:

For Baklava:

  • 12 baklava phyllo dough
  • 150 grams of butter

For the pudding:

  • 1 liter milk
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 4 tablespoons of sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of wheat starch
  • 2 heaping tablespoons of flour
  • 1 pinch of salt

For the sherbet:

  • 1 glass of sugar
  • 1 glass of water
  • 3-4 drops of lemon juice

For the above:

  • 1 tablespoon pistachio powder

How To?

  1. Preparing the Sherbet:
    • Combine sugar, water and lemon juice in a saucepan.
    • Cook, stirring, until the sugars dissolve.
    • Then let it cool.
  2. Preparing the pudding:
    • Mix egg yolk, sugar, salt, flour and starch in a pot.
    • Add milk and cook until it reaches a thick consistency.
    • After cooking, set aside to cool.
  3. Yufka Preparation:
    • Melt the butter and strain it to separate the foams.
    • Lay two baklava phyllo sheets on the counter and spread melted butter between them.
    • Repeat this process until all the dough is used up.
    • Then prepare it by cutting it into squares.
  4. Diamond Assembly:
    • Place a spoonful of the pudding in the middle of each phyllo square.
    • Close it in a triangle shape.
    • If you want, you can cut the phyllo dough into smaller squares and repeat the same process to get smaller baklavas.
  5. Cooking:
    • Bake in a preheated oven set at 180 degrees for 35 minutes.
    • After taking it out of the oven, pour 2 spoons of sherbet and let it rest for 30 minutes – 1 hour to absorb.
  6. Service:
    • Serve them crispy by sprinkling pistachio powder on them.
