The largest newborn in the world

Many know that the norm for a newborn is a weight of 3 kg or plus or minus half a kilogram. But sometimes truly unique babies are born who amaze not only medical staff, but also ordinary people with their enormous size.

One such, I am not afraid of this word, anomalous child was the child of Anna Bates, born in Canada at the end of the nineteenth century. It weighed an astonishing 10.5 kg! This baby was entered into the Guinness Book of Records as the heaviest newborn in the world. Unfortunately, the baby died 10 hours after birth.

Anna Bates was a very large woman, over two meters tall and weighing over 150 kg! Her husband, Martin Bates, was as big a man as she was. This couple could not have children because the children died due to their abnormal weight. The case described above was no exception. This was the third attempt at family happiness for the Bates family. The couple died without children.

Is it difficult to give birth to a giant? Such large children often have serious health problems. They are usually quite specific and rarely respond to treatment. For example, a baby that is too big may suffer from diabetes, multiple allergies, or even neurological disorders. This happens because the baby’s muscles are much larger than normal size.

An even more serious problem is the birthing process. The birth of such a giant is a lot of stress for its mother, not only morally, but also physically. Logically, due to the size of the baby, a cesarean section is often performed, which worsens the condition of the mother’s body. However, this preserves the life of both mother and baby.
