That law came into force! Attention drunk drivers!

With the law that came into force today in Poland, it was announced that the cars of all drivers who are found to be over 1.5 promil alcohol will be confiscated.

A new law has come into force to prevent traffic accidents in Poland . Drivers who drive drunk will now have their vehicles confiscated.

The law includes the confiscation of the vehicles of drivers who are involved in any traffic accident and whose blood alcohol level is found to be 1 promil or more, and drivers who leave the scene on foot or with any vehicle after being involved in the accident.

If the vehicle in which the drunk driver is caught does not belong to him, the driver will be fined for the value of the vehicle. If the vehicle driven by alcohol becomes unusable due to an accident, instead of confiscating the vehicle, the driver will be fined for the current value of the vehicle.

According to the current laws in Poland, the driver’s license of drivers determined to be between 0.2 and 0.5 drunk is confiscated and a fine of 2,500 zlotys (20 thousand TL) is imposed. If the promil level exceeds 0.5, the fine imposed goes from 5 thousand to 60 thousand zlotys (40 thousand to 490 thousand TL). At the same time, a separate lawsuit is being filed against the driver, whose driver’s license was confiscated and 15 penalty points were imposed. The law that came into force today aims to further reduce traffic accidents.

According to statistics, 255 people drive drunk every day in Poland. Last year, the police caught more than 90 thousand drunk drivers during checks throughout the country, and almost 13 thousand drunk drivers have been caught since the beginning of the year.
